Congratulations to our first successful applicants

First round of funding begins.

We are thrilled to announce our first set of successful applicants are through!

Congratulations to Oscar Innes, Alina Litvinova, Wen-Hui Helen Chuang and Sofia Said on securing funding from the John Preston Trust. We will be taking a closer look at each applicant’s creative practice over the next couple of weeks and their plans for the funding.

This is an exciting step in our charity’s story and we are looking forward to working with many more young aspiring artists across Edinburgh and the Lothians. The John Preston Trust is an integral asset for Scotland’s creative future, particularly in the current challenging economic climate.

Director of Edinburgh’s International Festival (EIF), Nicola Benedetti, recently wrote of the need for additional national funding within the creative sector in Scotland. With more and more funding cuts, artists and the communities they inspire will suffer.

As a result, charities such as The John Preston Trust are vital, more so now than ever, as a resource for aspiring creatives in Scotland. Founded in the centre of one of the world’s leading countries in creative development, our work helps to support young people to achieve their goals and is instrumental in their development as artists.
