Growing success for young bassoonist Emily
The John Preston Trust is delighted to have helped Emily in her growing orchestral career as a bassoonist.

Emily approached us for help to buy her favoured instrument, the bassoon.
In June she gained distinction in her ABRSM Grade 8 Bassoon exam, with 139/150 marks. Over the summer she went on to appear as principal bassoonist on the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra course, playing Aileen Sweeney’s ‘Glisk’ and Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Sheherazade’ at Ayr Town Hall and Glasgow City Halls. She was also principal bassoonist at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Junior Symphony Orchestra Summer Concert, performing Glazunov’s Symphony no 5.
As 2nd bassoon and contra bassoon she played as part of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland’s Symphony Orchestra Course. The orchestra performed Holst’s ‘The Planets’ at Perth Concert Hall, Dynamic Earth and the Usher Hall in Edinburgh.
We wish Emily every success and look forward to seeing much more of her in the future.
