Yes.  Our grant-giving is focussed on supporting individuals involved in music and visual arts.  However, we will also consider applications from organisations working directly with young people who meet our eligibility criteria.

Yes.  All applications from organisations must be a registered charity.

For individuals applying, we may check some the information provided by contacting employers or organisations mentioned in the application form in addition to contacting the referees listed.  For charitable organisations applying we will do normal due diligence and carry out checks on information held by the Charity Regulator.

Currently no.  Individuals applying must reside in the Edinburgh and Lothians area.  Other charities and their beneficiaries must be based in this area also. The JPT may expand its grant-giving into other areas of Scotland in the future.

Applications for grants must be received in accordance with the dates detailed on our timetable.

Yes, but you should bear in mind we are a small charity with limited funds available each year.  You should have a plan in place for what you would do if your application to fund the full costs of a project is unsuccessful.

In the case of a new charity or organisation which has not yet submitted public accounts for legitimate reasons, the trustees may, at their discretion, consider an application but are under no obligation to do so.

Yes.  We automatically respond on receipt of all online applications and all eligible applicants will be notified of the outcome date and time tbc. Due to our limited resources, we regret we will be unable to provide detailed feedback on unsuccessful applications.

You will be required to tell us in your application when your activity will happen and when you expect it to be complete.  Ordinarily, this would be within 12 months of receipt of a grant but, in exceptional circumstances, we will consider projects with a longer duration or lead time.

No.  If you wish to change the purpose of the grant you must contact us first and obtain written permission for this change.  Such permission is not guaranteed, and we may withhold funds or request a refund of the grant if a departure from the approved purpose is considered to be unacceptable.

You may submit a new or resubmit a previous application at future funding rounds. However we will normally commit only to one-off grants. Success in a previous round does not guarantee success in future rounds.  We require a brief report on the outcome of your project and will not consider a further application until we have received that final report.

We focus on supporting specific projects rather than core costs.  As an individual making an application we recognise that administration costs may be a part of your application but these should constitute no more than 20% of the cost of the project in question.

For organisations we do not offer grants for any part of the core funding of the operation. We will only fund the specific costs associated with the project for which you are making the application.

Trustees reserve the right to monitor projects we fund.  All successful applicants will be required to provide a report on the use of the grant and the outcomes.  Our grant terms usually ask for an invitation to see the project culmination or performance.

Yes.  We will consider applications for equipment, instruments and other items considered by the applicant as essential to their project.
